The Jaguars defeated a pair of foes in their home triangular; they defeated Central Minnesota Conference rival Eden Valley-Watkins 66-12 and Osakis 63-10. Brett DeRoo, Ryan Jensen, Wyatt Engen, Walker Bents, Tyler Jensen, Blaine Fischer, Maximus Hanson, Carson Gilbert and Ethan Spanier all went 2-0. The Jaguars had an awesome team performance with 251.5 points and fourteen medals winners to win the championship at the New London-Spicer “Wildcats” Invitational. The Jaguars advanced ten to the championship, where they earned seven championships. Brett DeRoo, Walker Bents, Tyler Jensen, Blaine Fischer, Maximus Hanson and Carson Gilbert all earned championship medals. Ryan Jensen at 126 earned the championship, he was voted by the coaches, the Outstanding Wrestler. Wyatt Engen, Tanner Viessman and Ethan Spanier all earned second place medals and Louie Tensen and Ethan Mueller both earned third place. Talen Kampsen and Bryce Feuerhake both earned fifth place. The Jaguars defeated Section 5A rival Benson 61-15 (10-4). The Jaguars earned second place with 200 points and four medal winners. KIMBALL AREA CUBS
The Cubs defeated Class A Lean and Mean and Central Minnesota Conference rival Holdingford 40-28 (8-6). The Cubs split duals at the Watertown-Mayer “Royals” Triangular.They defeated Section 4A and Class A Lean and Mean Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted 57-6. They were defeated by No. 6AA ranked and one of Section 2AA favorites Watertown-Mayer 45-13. Gavin Winter, Carter Holtz and Haden Rosenow all went 2-0. The Cubs were defeated by the No. 4A ranked and Central Minnesota Conference rivals Royalton-Upsala 34-29, in very good dual, that went down to heavyweight. The Cubs were missing two of the ranked wrestlers for the Royalton-Upsala dual.
ROYALTON-UPSALA ROYALS
The Royals were defeated by AA Lean and Mean Totino Grace 46-24 and Grand Rapids 40-27. Ty Cassidy and Cole Hamilton both went 2-0. The Royals defeated Lakeville South 57-23 and Burnsville 39-36. They defeated Section 4A rival and Class A Lean and Mean Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 49-22 (9-5). Tucker Simmons (106), Lane Olson (113), Bryce Binek (120), Alex Diederich (126), Will Gorecki (132), Jake Leibold (160) and Jeremy Mugg (285) all went 2-0. The Royals were short four of their regulars due to Middle School Section Tournaments. The Royals had a very good team performance with 185.5 points and ten medals winners to earn the championship of the fourteen team field of teams Grand Rapids ‘Skip Nalan” Invitational. Alex Diedrich (126/23-3), Jacob Leibold (152/29-1) and Bryce Holm (220/24-7) all earned championship medals. Gabe Gorecki (170/21-3) and Kaden Holm (195/11-5) both earned third place medals and Bryce Binek (120/14-13) earned fifth place and Nick Leibold (145/11-10) and Hunter Novitzki (182/17-12 both took seventh place. The Royals 7/8/9 grade team earned second place at their Section 7 Tournament with 137 points with six place winners. The Royals defeated the No. 3A ranked and Central Minnesota Conference rivals the Kimball Cubs 34-29 (7-7). This was a very exciting dual that went down to the heavyweight match, the Royals were also missing one of their ranked starters. The Royals freshman team earned sixth place with 67.5 points in the state tournament. LONG PRAIRIE-GREY EAGLE-BROWERVILLE WOLVES
The Wolves earned four duals wins this past this past week; they defeated Class A Lean and Mean Minnewaska Area 49-21 and AA Fergus Falls 72-6. They defeated two foes at the home triangular, AAA Lean and Mean Brainerd 29-21 (10-4) and No. 12AA Foley 43-32 (8-6). Colby Twardowski, Gavin Albers, Mason Bruder, Braden Thom, Landon Gode and Tucker Zigan all went 2-0. The Wolves defeated a pair of foes at the Osakis “Silverstreaks” Triangular. They defeated two Park Region Conference foes: Ottertail Central 57-15 (10-4) and Osakis 44-28 (8-6). The Knights defeated two foes at the KMS “Fighting Saints” Triangular. They defeated KMS 46-12 (11-3) and Quad County 69-9 (12-2). Adam Lohse, Mason Richter, Hunter Gruchow, Solomon Wales, Reubens Swanson, Anthony Sykora, Beau Robinson and Will Rustan all went 2-0. The Knights defeated the No. 7A ranked United North Central 42-21 (9-5). The Knights had a very good trip to Crookston for the Pirates Triangular. The Lakers defeated two foes at the LPGE/BR “Wolves Quadrangular. They defeated AA Detroit Lakes 39-33 and AA Fergus Fall 67-12. They were defeated by Section 5A rival LPGE/BR 49-20. The Lakers had a very good team performance with 171 points and fifteen place winners to earn the championship at the Thief River Falls “Army/National Guard Prowler” Invitational. Tori’s Johnson, Chase Smith, Nick Ankeny, Jayce Kovarik, Easton McCrory and Jacob Blair all earned championship medals. Miles Widman, Jayson Crow, Chase Boelke and Nathan Rankin all earned second place medals. Ethan Anderson (138/18-6), Adam Jurek (160/18-6), Tyson Ricker (170/22-3) and Dylan Weber (182/ 13-5) all earned second place. Drew May (126/16-11, Ethan Duncombe (145/16-5, Mason Doucette (152/20-7) and Royce Kuschel (285/21-4) all earned fourth place. Nolan Muellner (132) earned fifth place and Joe Goth (195/9-7) took sixth place. The Bulldogs 7/8/9 team earned seventh place with 93.5 points and four place winners at the Section 7 Tournament. The Road Crew defeated two foes at the Albany “Huskies” Triangular; they defeated Class A Lean and Mean Annandale/Maple 44-23 and Albany 55-9. The Road Crew won the Mid-State Dual Conference tournament with big wins over Class AA Lean and Mean Aitkin 32-28, Park Rapids 69-6, Detroit Lakes 51-16, Staples 59-15 and Crosby-Ironton 77-5. Chance Abraham, Connor Tulenchik and Corbin Knapp all went 5-0 and Earl Stockman and Austin Staricha both went 4-1. Mid-State All Conference were Parker Zutter (106), Chance Abraham (152) Connor Tulenchik (170), Trey Tuchtenhagen (182), Corbin Knapp (195) and Austin Straticha (220). Special Note: Connor Tulenchik was honored as the Most Valuable Wrestler in the Mid-State in 2022. Connor Tulenchik earned his 200th Career Math with a fall vs. Aitkin. Ian Lapointe, Caleb Stortz, Christian Noble, Nolan Reiter, Johnathon Murphy and Riley Mullen all went 2-0. The Hornets defeated two rivals at the Albany “Huskiers” Triangular, they defeated Section 6AA foe Albany 59-15 and AA Lean and Mean Mora 56-15. They defeated Tri City 52-22 (10-4) and GSL 55-12 (10-4) Titan Friederichs, Aaron Bury, Jonah Hamburger, Bryce Burkett, Jackson Drahus, Ashton Congdon and Hunter Stein all went 2-0.
